Document conventions

Table 1-1 lists the typographic conventions used in this guide.

Appearance of text

How it is used

Narrow bold font

Used for buttons, column names, commands,
field names, menu names, and keystrokes.

Example: Choose File > Delete . Click OK .

bold font

Used for information you type in a window or field.

Example : Type filename.txt in the Save As field.

Note, Caution, Important, and Tip

Examples:

Note: Includes information that supplements the text.

Caution: Warns you when an action will cause damage to data.

Important: Includes supplemental information that is more important than a note.

Tip: Includes information to help you apply techniques and procedures described in the text.

Courier font

Used for system messages and UNIX commands.

Example: The following message displays.

The controller has run out of memory .
